Aerating and Overseeding

There are many benefits to aerating and overseeding your lawn, to view some of them please view our facts page. The core aeration will work best if the lawn is watered (not saturated) the day before. Please do remember to mark all sprinkler heads, invisible fence lines and any other lawn obstacles that we should be aware of with pin flags, available at your local lawn and garden, or hardware store. We guarantee our work and the materials used including the best seed available. We do not guarantee the seed growth because germination is dependent upon sufficient moisture.

Lawn Applications

Mulching

  • Mulch will improve the appearance of your landscape beds.

  • Set off colorful plants and flowers from the surrounding lawn.

  • The Conservation of moisture in the soil.

  • Mulch maintains a more uniform temperature in the root zone.

  • Plants will become established more quickly.

  • The buffer will protect plants from lawn equipment.

  • A good layer of mulch will limit weed growth.

A Healthy Lawn will:

  • Improve the beauty and appeal of your home and landscape.

  • Purify and conserve water resources by reducing runoff.

  • Help to maintain air quality by absorbing carbon dioxide and smog.

  • Build healthy topsoil through decay of grass clippings and organic matter.

  • Generate oxygen through photosynthesis.

Services

Seeding

Seeding is often done in conjunction with core aeration and is an excellent way to thicken an existing turf grass. The seed falls into the holes and germinates there; this service should not be substituted for a new lawn or an extensive lawn renovation.

  • Improved air exchange between the soil and atmosphere.

  • Enhanced soil water uptake.

  • Improved fertilizer uptake and use.

  • Reduced water runoff and puddling.

  • Stronger turfgrass roots.

  • Reduced soil compaction.

  • Enhanced heat and drought stress tolerance.

Core Aeration

The soil in our area tends towards a clay type soil.  A clay soil is a very dense soil and it becomes difficult for grass to thrive in a dense soil. Core aeration provides many benefits to include:

  • Improved air exchange between the soil and atmosphere.

  • Enhanced soil water uptake.

  • Improved fertilizer uptake and use.

  • Reduced water runoff and puddling.

  • Stronger turfgrass roots.

  • Reduced soil compaction.

  • Enhanced heat and drought stress tolerance.

  • Benefits pH modification

  • Ideal seed preparation

Limestone

Limestone is an alkaline agent and is used in our area to balance soil pH. Soil in our area tends towards acidity. It is recommended that home owners in our area treat the lawn with limestone once a year just to maintain the current pH. Multiple applications could be needed to bring your soil pH into a proper range, which is 6.5 for cool weather grasses.

Starter fertilizer

Starter fertilizer is recommended when seed is put down, it is a fertilizer specifically designed to promote a quick germination and to quickly develop a sufficient root zone.
